What is a Small Group?
Every week after AXIS, you will get together with your small group to spend time in a more intimate setting, talking, processing, and praying about what’s going on in your lives. It’s simple: big group to small group.  The goal is for you to leave feeling energized to go out there and make an impact! It's simply Small Groups is where you feel cared for.

We take Small Groups off during the summer and have After Parties instead.

Who are the small group leaders?
Every small group leader has a passion for God and students.  They have been fully background checked and trained to make sure a safe place is provided.  Here are our small group leaders this year:

What can I expect?
You’re placed in a group of 8-15 students of the same grade and gender.  Each group is paired up with two adult leaders who: 1) pay attention to what’s going on in your life and 2) show that they do care about you. During small groups, you will be able to share about each other’s lives, discuss the night’s lesson in a deeper way, and pray for each other.

What if I have never been in a Small Group before at First MB Students?
That is fine, even though we have done Small Groups in the past - with AXIS things are a little different.  We separate by gender and grade so all you have to do is show up to AXIS and YOU'RE IN!  You will be placed in a small group based on your grade and gender (freshmen boys, freshmen girls, etc.).

When do Small Groups Meet?
Right after AXIS starting around 8:00 p.m.  Some small groups take longer to discuss than others.  That is why we officially say our end time is 9:00 p.m. however some groups might be done before that time.  No matter your end time students are free to go as soon as their small group dismisses them.

Why do you keep small group leaders with their students all four years?
We do this because we know when life happens you will need people, other than just your parents, to trust and point you to God. Our hope is that this may turn out to be a lifelong encouraging relationship.  We have some of the best leaders on the planet for our small group ministry. They all have been screened, trained, and have a passion for God and a love for students.

Does it cost anything?
No, small groups are free. However, there might be some events geared for small groups that cost money.

How do I join a small group?
First, simply be showing up to AXIS our People Team will collect some information from you (grade, etc.) and invite you to join the corresponding small group.  We try to place you with your friends so most groups are divided up by grade and gender.  However, we do make some exceptions with grades based on if you were brought by a friend.
