In Wichita

We believe it's important to make a difference in the community where we live. Here are just a few options of ministries and organizations that we trust and regularly support. If you would like to help with any of these, contact Kimberly at to learn about next steps.

Downtown Breakfasts
Every Sunday morning, those who are homeless or struggling financially are able to enjoy a free breakfast in downtown Wichita. Several groups partner together to make this happen, and several times throughout the year we ask First MBers to help provide casseroles and serve at the event. Learn more

Family Promise
Family Promise helps low-income families achieve lasting independence. They help families accomplish this by providing shelter, meals, and support services for homeless families and through programs designed to address the underlying causes of homelessness. Churches throughout Wichita host the families, one week at a time, four times a year. Learn more

World Impact Thrift Store (WITS)
WITS is a thrift store in East Wichita at Central and Grove. A small food pantry has been added as the need for nurishment has increased over the last few months. We have a collection container in the Giving Center area if you would like to contribute groceries to the food pantry. Requests: Apples, cereal, granola or cereal bars, oranges, and applesauce/fruit cups.

The store is currently in need of volunteers! If interested, please contact Dave McCloud at

Women's Prison Ministry
Being a pen pal or mentor to an inmate can have such an impact.

Community Kids
We often volunteer at Enders Elementary School and Cessne Elementary School here in Wichita and assist with several after school Bible clubs. A variety of volunteer opportunities are available!

Hope is Alive
Over the past six years Hope is Alive Ministries has supported and advocated for hundreds of families who have found themselves in this troubling and painful place. They work with families to define an action plan that bests suits their specific situation and be there to walk beside them as their loved one begins his or her road to recovery.
